This functioning 6 hectare island resort is located in South Malé Atoll, within the central tourism zone just 45 minutes from the airport by speedboat. The existing resort is situated in a uniquely large lagoon and the property includes two virgin islands (approximately 1 hectare respectively) which are highly suitable for development. The concept behind this project is to develop one of the virgin island’s into an additional resort, and to operate it alongside the primary resort as a sister property. Thus this will takes advantage of the unusual geography to create a unique destination development.

RESORT REDEVELOPMENT & EXPANSION PLAN
The redevelopment proposes the upgrading of facilities and additional inventory at the already functioning resort. The upgraded resort will be positioned as a 4 star property. One of the existing virgin islands is reclaimed and enlarged to enable the development of an all new sister resort positioned as 4 star plus. The other virgin island can be utilised for back of the house support services and facilities, away from the comfort of resort guests as not to disturb their experience. The reclamation activities in the shallow lagoon also present the possibility of creating additional small islands such as a picnic island as an attraction or an exclusive private island.

SISTER RESORT EXPANSION
The new sister resort will be comprised of a limited number of on land island villas with the majority being over water bungalows. This is to reduce land reclamation costs while taking advantage of the shallow lagoon. The property will be positioned in the underserved 4 star plus category taking advantage of the current brand recognition the resort has. The concept for the new island is strongly inspired by the back to basics eco feel which is lacking in the Maldives marketplace while providing an additional measure of sophistication for more upmarket clients at 4 star plus positioning.
