Description

A family-origin winery estate in the Rioja Alta sub-zone of DOCa Rioja, northern Spain.

This is a fully operational production and hospitality property in one of Rioja’s most respected western areas, known for its quality-focused reds and balanced climate. Established around the turn of the millennium by a multi-generational grape-growing family, it combines traditional know-how with modern winemaking infrastructure.

The estate works its own vineyards in the surrounding Rioja Alta landscape (including older plantings established by earlier generations on distinctive local terroir) and supplements with carefully selected fruit from local contracted growers. Primary focus is Tempranillo, supported by Garnacha, Mazuelo and related varieties for reds, plus Viura for whites. Production covers a full range of young wines (red, white and rosé), oak-aged styles (crianza and reserva) and limited special cuvées, all under the DOCa Rioja designation. Winemaking follows classic methods enhanced by temperature-controlled stainless-steel fermentation, precise maceration and aging in French and American oak, with modern technology integrated throughout.

Facilities are contemporary and functional, equipped for efficient processing, aging and bottling. On-site amenities support both production and hospitality: tasting and dining spaces (with restaurant kitchen capacity for groups of 100+), barrel hall, gardens and outdoor areas, plus parking suitable for cars and coaches. These spaces have been used for winery tours, corporate events, private celebrations and group hospitality, offering ready potential for continued or expanded wine-tourism activity.

The location benefits from the classic Rioja Alta setting—proximity to quality vineyard land, good regional connectivity and the prestige of the appellation—while remaining a self-contained operational unit. Ideal for a buyer seeking an established, turnkey Rioja production base with hospitality upside, or for integration into a larger portfolio focused on the zone’s traditional strengths.

This description is intentionally generalized to support confidential/off-market discussions. Specific operational metrics, vineyard hectarage under control, exact capacity figures, inventory, financials and viewing arrangements would be provided under NDA to qualified parties.

An excellent offer of a famous winery in Rioja (the most famous wine is produced here, a very prestigious and iconic wine producing region) with the possibility of building a small hotel on site. Some of the premises are rented out to other winemakers. Several different wines are produced in the wineries facilities. Current wine producing operations produce a stable annual yield of approximately 8%.

A LITTLE ABOUT RIOJA & ITS WINERIES

Rioja is a province and autonomous community in the north of Spain, the recognized wine-growing center of the country. The largest vineyards in the province are located in the valley of the Ebro River, which flows out of the Cantabrian Mountains, and around the ancient city of Haro, famous for its Wine Museum and the Battle of Wine Summer Festival. In Rioja, there are small wineries with old cellars as well as large wine producers.

The Rioja DOCa (Denominación de Origen Calificada) is Spain’s oldest and most prestigious wine appellation, spanning roughly 100 km along the Ebro Valley and encompassing three distinct sub-regions—Rioja Alta, Rioja Alavesa, and Rioja Oriental—each shaped by different climates, altitudes, and soils. Tempranillo is the dominant red grape (around 80–88% of plantings), forming the backbone of the region’s classic reds and delivering elegant structure, red- and black-fruit flavors, and excellent aging potential; it is typically blended with Garnacha (for body and spice, especially in the warmer Oriental zone), Graciano (for aroma and acidity), Mazuelo/Carignan (for color and tannin), and the rarer Maturana Tinta. White wines, though a smaller share of production, are led by Viura (Macabeo), often joined by Garnacha Blanca, Tempranillo Blanco, Malvasía, and limited plantings of other authorized varieties; these range from fresh, citrusy styles to complex, oak-aged whites. Reds in particular are classified by aging—Joven, Crianza, Reserva, and Gran Reserva—reflecting the region’s long tradition of oak maturation (historically American, now often mixed with French) that yields the silky, vanilla-tinged, age-worthy wines for which Rioja is celebrated worldwide.
